These are a natural thing to make with any leftover meatballs you may have from my “Almost Famous Meatballs” which I posted previously today.

Once you have the meatballs made, it is short work to put these together, and the promise is that of the best meatball sandwich you ever ate.

It is indeed a monster of a sandwich, and best served with plenty of napkins. Although listed as “optional” I do recommend adding a bit of giardiniera and sliced peppers to your sandwich for that extra “oomph” I am sure you are looking for.

And hang on tight, it takes two hands to lift this baby to your mouth!

Enjoy-

~Sue

Ingredients:

Method:

  1. Pre-warm bread and meatballs in marinara.
  2. Slice bread lengthwise and paint the bottom half of the bread until it is nicely saucy.
  3. Top with slices of provolone cheese.
  4. Place bottom and top halves of sandwich separately onto a cookie sheet and bake in a 400F oven until cheese is melted, top of bread is crisp, but sandwich is not dry on the saucy parts (about 10-12 mins.)
  5. Slice into manageable pieces (I suggest between meatballs) and serve with giardiniera and pepperoncini as desired.
