It’s origins may be disputed (like the Margarita and the Mai Tai), but this classic cocktail has enjoyed enormous popularity for decades. It often features in Sunday brunches and as a “day after” cure. (Note that this is dubious – only hydration, electrolyte replacement and rest can really cure a hangover.)
The drink lends itself to many variations with its essential base of tomato juice and vodka. This version includes lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce among other seasoning ingredients.
The Bloody Mary also enjoys a wild array of garnishing options, with some versions almost overwhelmed by the wild selection and magnitude of the items chosen to garnish the drink. The bottom line is to have fun with it and enjoy yourself.
Also note that you can play around with the base ingredients – sub tequila for vodka and you have the Bloody Maria. Omit booze altogether and you have a Virgin Mary (also known as a Bloody Shame). You can also swap out the tomato juice for V8 or Clamato.
However you make and adorn yours, cheers!

Yum! Love Bloody Marys! Sometimes I put horseradish in to spice them up.
