This week’s #SundaySupper event is, fabulously enough, one of my favorites: burgers and hot dogs. I am a huge fan of street food and casual eating! And  actually I had first planned to do  this recipe for the 4th  of July and call it the Liberty Dog, since it is Philadelphia related and the liberty bell being there and all.

So when this event was first announced, I decided to switch gears (not wanting  to do too many casual sandwiches so close together) and opted to do sno-cones for the holiday instead. But little did I realize that when I rescheduled this, that the DNC would be going on this week  in…(you guessed it)…Philadelphia of all places. So we might  be hearing a lot about cheesesteak sandwiches and if you love a good hot dog, this is a fantastic way to knock two birds out with one stone, so to speak.

I have actually come  to like a wide variety of hot dogs with wild and crazy toppings. I am already a long time fan of chili dogs (both Coney and Cincinnati) as well as Chicago Dogs. Locally, in Cincinnati, there is a chef named Daniel Wright who has a hot dog shop downtown, and of course as is the new fashion, these are not your mundane street variety mutts, but haute cuisine. His place is called Senate, and he has a cookbook out of the same name. He has some very interesting creations!

Besides my love of hot dogs, I also enjoy a tasty burger, especially out on the grill. There are certainly lots to peruse this week if anyone is looking for new ideas! I hope you enjoy them all. Until next time-
