Buckeye crunch popcorn clusters have butter toffee popcorn enveloped in milk chocolate and peanut butter for an incredibly delicious candied treat.
Buckeye Crunch Popcorn Clusters

My recipe of the day is for Buckeye Crunch popcorn clusters. It’s one of those things you really don’t have to do much to, almost to the point of not calling it a recipe.
But that’s not the point.
And truthfully, not everything we make has to be so involved, does it?
Oh so easy and delicious!
But the thing is- people will comment when they eat these. Comments like “Now this is the sh—–!”…..shucks, I just can’t finish that word here, but you get the idea. And someone actually did say that!
I’ve used a bag of butter toffee (caramel) popcorn in this, but if you really feel ambitious and want to use your own recipe, go ahead.
Buckeyes? It’s an Ohio Thing
Now this popcorn is based off some stuff actually called Buckeye Crunch here in Ohio, which is individual pieces dipped solidly in the peanut butter coating then drizzled with milk chocolate.
Sometimes easy is just better
I actually wasn’t feeling that great (had a backache) on the day I made this. I wanted to do it earlier but it seemed to be raining every day. So I cut corners and turned this into clusters rather than taking the time to dip these individual. But I have to tell you, in the end, it all tastes just exactly the same.
How are we doing this?
You’ll be melting the peanut butter chips and dropping that by small spoonfuls onto silpat or parchment. Press the butter toffee popcorn into it and then let it cool and set up.
When it is firm, do the milk chocolate ganache and drizzle over the top and let that set up as well. My ganache was still tacky after an hour and it was after ten, so I covered them with overturned storage containers and let them finish setting up overnight.
Size doesn’t matter too much but I did sort of do these about the size of the small turtle candies or the size of chocolate covered peanut clusters as I recall (haven’t had those in awhile, but going on memory) as it seemed a good portion size.

Buckeye Crunch Popcorn Clusters
- 1 (12 ounce) bag butter toffee or caramel popcorn
- 2 (10 ounces each) bags Reese's Peanut Butter baking chips
- 1 (11.5 ounce) bag milk chocolate chips
- 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
- Melt peanut butter chips according to package directions using either the microwave or double boiler.
- Spoon dallops of the peanut butter mix onto silpat or parchment and press pieces of popcorn into it.
- Allow the peanut butter chip mix to solidify and harden, one to two hours.
- Melt the milk chocolate with the sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan over low heat.
- Drizzle chocolate over the popcorn clusters.
- Allow the chocolate to solidify and harden, 1-2 hours. (depends on room temperature)
- Store in an airtight container between waxed paper.
