DIY Marzetti’s Slaw Dressing is my  recipe  of  the day with BBQ week, which is a group event I will be having fun with all week long. I  love cooking and eating  outdoors, don’t you?

Soon the weather will be turning nice and warm here in Ohio. It probably would have already, except we are having a bit of a chilly   Spring. Did you notice the snow everyone was getting on the East coast?  Yuck.

I am all ready to throw open the windows to get some fresh air. But truth be told I bet it goes straight from furnace to air-conditioning. Don’t you hate that?

At least when it is nice and sunny we can go out to the pool and set up the barbie for an afternoon of grilling and good eats.

What’s Your  Favorite  BBQ SIde  Dish?

And one of my favorite  sides for summer barbecue is coleslaw.

So much nicer to make it from scratch  than buy the  bottles at the store. And  cheaper too.

The slaw makes a perfect side for almost every plate, and let’s not forget the smattering of slaw on top of a Carolina pulled pork sandwich is  just the  bomb!

  1. That is nearly to a t the way I make my slaw dressing LOL, sometimes I use different vinegar depending on what I have on hand. If I do buy slaw dressing it is always Marzetti’s.

    • The last jar I bought was a Marzetti’s to compare the recipe to the jar. SO easy to make a batch up at home.

    • Is this the southern style recipe? I love the Marzetti’s Southern style slaw dressing but you cannot get it anymore. I do not care for the original.

      • This is like the Original version. I didn’t have the Southern one in hand. I really try to taste what I make next to the product to see if I am on target. If I ever come across the other one, I will keep it in mind someone is looking for it. Occasionally things pop back up in the stores. Just this month BBQ Fritos made a sudden reappearance, but probably will disappear again.

      • I tried looking for the Southern style, thinking I would do it as well, but stores are out. I like to have a bottle of the actual stuff so I can taste it side by side. I sent an email to Marzetti asking about it and they said that they suspended production on that one during covid. I imagine they will get it started again soon. If I see it I will give it a go when I need some slaw. I imagine I can go through quite a bit if I make pulled pork and want to pile it on the sandwiches. Keep one eye peeled.

    • For jar mayonnaise I use Duke’s or Hellman’s. They are very similar with Duke’s being just slightly tangier. But whichever type you use normally will be just fine, including Miracle Whip. I find that what type people are used to eating works best for them.

  2. Omgoodness it was a great likeness of Marzettis slaw dressing maybe even better. My sis in law puts it in her potato salad. It is delicious.
