Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 1 red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 teaspoons chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 15.5 ounce can diced tomatoes
  • 29 ounce can tomato puree
  • 29 ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar

Instructions
 

  • Brown beef and sausage in oil with bell pepper, onion, garlic, salt and pepper; drain fat.
  • Add meat to slow cooker with remaining ingredients and stir.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or for 4 hours on high.
  • Serve with cooked pasta.
