  • 9-inch square glass baking pan

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup chopped pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup chopped toasted pecans
  • powdered sugar (topping)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Spray a 9-inch square glass baking pan with nonstick spray or liberally grease.
  • Combine the butter and brown sugar until creamy, then add eggs, blending again until smooth.
  • Add flour, oats, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and baking soda, stirring until it becomes a smooth batter.
  • Fold in the dates and pecans.
  • Spread evenly in the baking pan and bake for 20 minutes or until firm and lightly browned on top.
  • Dust with powdered sugar when cool, and slice into squares.
  • Store in an airtight container.
