Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 5 ounces thick sliced bacon chopped
  • 8 ounces canned tomato sauce
  • 12 ounces cane sugar Dr. Pepper soda
  • 32 ounces canned pork and beans
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 2 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Louisiana pepper sauce

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Lightly grease a 2-1/2 quart oven-safe casserole dish or spray with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  • Place onion and garlic in a skillet with the chopped bacon. Cook until fat renders from bacon and onions become soft.
  • Add the tomato sauce and soda to the pan, and cook over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until sauce reduces and is syrupy.
  • Stir in the canned pork and beans, salt, black pepper, mustard, molasses, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce.
  • Pour bean mixture into the greased casserole and bake uncovered for approximately thirty minutes.
