  • 1 Slow Cooker or Crockpot

Ingredients
  

Feijoada bean stew:

  • 14 ounces fresh Linguica sausage (sliced)
  • 10 ounces smoked slab bacon (cubed)
  • 10 ounces Spanish cured chorizo (sliced)
  • 1/4 cup garlic cloves
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound dried black beans
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 6 cups beef broth

Farofa (toasted manioc flour):

  • 250 gram package farofa pronta
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 1 Roma tomato (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup chopped scallions
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • salt and pepper (to taste)

Serving accompaniments:

  • hard cooked eggs
  • fresh oranges (peeled and sliced)
  • cooked rice
  • cooked collard greens (or any other greens type)
  • green olives

Instructions
 

  • Brown meats with onion and garlic in olive oil.
  • Place ingredients in slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low for ten hours.
  • To prepare farofa, saute the onion and garlic in the butter, then add remaining ingredients and stir for a few minutes until hot.
  • Serve bean stew with farofa, sliced hard cooked egg, rice, collard greens, orange slices, and green olives.
