Equipment

  • electric mixer; whip attachment; strainer

Ingredients
  

  • 6 egg yolks save the whites for an omelet
  • 2-1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup pasteurized egg whites
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Mix egg yolks, milk and honey in saucepan.
  • Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture coats a metal spoon, about ten minutes.
  • Strain mixture through a fine strainer and discard any solids.
  • Remove from heat; place mixture in a container and place in the freezer for fifteen minutes.
  • Stir in vanilla and nutmeg.
  • Place heavy cream, egg whites and sugar in a mixer fitted with a wire whip, and mix on high until slightly thickened.
  • Stir gently into egg mixture, and chill before serving.
  • Adults may spike to their delight.
  • Children will be put on Santa's Naughty List if they try it, so no. This is, after all, "Family Style Eggnog".
