Family Style Eggnog is my family recipe for plain eggnog that is also non-alcoholic. You can certainly add spirits if you like.

This recipe is actually handed down from my husband’s side of the family. His father made it around the holidays. Their family also did not drink alcohol for religious reasons.
So as far as that goes, if you want to add alcohol, you can do it yourself. I am reminding of Olivia Walton in the Homecoming (Christmas movie). John Boy brings back a bottle from the Baldwin sisters. He proceeds to give it to his mom, who instantly has a meltdown. Then is embarrassed to find it was eggnog.
Now she didn’t ask if it was spiked. But you can figure it was at the Baldwin house, where their livelihood was making bootleg whiskey.
I imagine in years long past, most eggnog was premixed with booze. So if you’re a consenting adult, go ahead. If not, and you do so, consider yourself on Santa’s “Naughty List” and watch out for Mom Walton. Or she just might take a switch to your backside (as punishments were usually doled out in the old days).

Family Style Eggnog
I have modified this recipe somewhat since the time it came from my father in law. These days we don’t do raw egg whites. So you might notice that I advise you to save the whites from the in-shell eggs for something else. Like an omelet or an angel food cake. The yolks are cooked on the stovetop to make those safe. Carton egg whites are pasteurized so safe to eat. And everything is copasetic.

Oh, this sounds like a glass of heaven and I love that you use honey as a sweetener. I look forward to trying this recipe out…maybe with a slice of your eggnog pound cake!!!
My eggnog never contains alcohol unless someone requests to have some added. Christmas is all about family.
Never thought to use honey – sounds delicious
Like this family style eggnog recipe because you’ve used honey and pasteurized egg whites. When I checked out eggnog recipes, was a bit hesitant to use raw egg whites. Happy Holidays Sue.
