Eggnog Brandy Alexander combines the best of the holiday season with cognac, eggnog and chocolate liqueur with a touch of nutmeg.
Eggnog Brandy Alexander
By Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime
Eggnog Brandy Alexander is my recipe of the day with the blogging group From our Dinner Table.
The drink is a variation on the brandy Alexander that normally is made with simply cognac, crème de cacao, and cream. I have dressed this one up for the Christmas season by switching out the cream with eggnog.
We like spiking our eggnog anyway, but just having a splash of booze in a glass of eggnog can be a bit much and sometimes unsettling for the tummy if you indulge in certain party appetizers.
This drink keeps it short and sweet with equal parts of eggnog, cognac (brandy) and chocolate liqueur (such as Godiva).
If you are a big Beatles fan, I have read that the regular Brandy Alexander was John Lennon’s favorite drink, which he said tasted like a milkshake.
I wonder if he dressed his drink up with eggnog around the holidays? As far as an eggnog milkshake goes, Mickey D’s used to have them, although I doubt Lennon ever went there himself. I can’t say I was ever really big on their shakes.
But I do like this drink and thing it is a quiet sort of butt-kicker so be careful to not drink too many!

My friend Karlene made Brandy Alexander’s for us every Christmas. I sure miss those!!
It’s really good with the nog. Everyone loves them here. We need to get some more cognac so we can make more.
Ohhhh this sounds amazing.. that Godiva liquer is amazing and would be such a great addition in this drink; I’m going to have to pick some up soon!
I’m definitely going to have to add some chocolate liquer to our cabinet. This sounds delicious. Love the egg nog sub.
This sounds like a rich and delicious cocktail perfect for splurging on at the holidays!
I might be a little crazy. I’ve never had a brandy alexander and I don’t really like eggnog, but I totally want to try this. It sounds like Christmas in a glass. (And I know my husband would love it)
Yummy! I might even blend a little ice cream in 🙂
