Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound boneless bottom round steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt and black pepper to season meat
  • 1 large onion cut into wedges
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 12 ounces hefeweizen beer or lager beer
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon each salt and black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon prepared German mustard

Other:

  • cooked noodles or spaetzle

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 325F.
  • Season beef lightly with salt and pepper.
  • Brown the meat and onions with garlic in the oil in a Dutch oven.
  • remove beef to one side and add remaining ingredients to the pan (except noodles or spaetzle) and whisk lightly.
  • Add beef back to pan and cover.
  • Place in oven and bake for about 2 to 2-1/2 or until meat is tender.
  • Serve meat and onions over noodles or with spaetzle.
