Ingredients

Honey-Bourbon Barbecue Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons hickory flavored liquid smoke
  • 1-1.5 teaspoons Louisiana hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Kentucky bourbon
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons molasses
  • 3-4 tablespoons honey

Frankfurters:

  • 14 ounces cocktail frankfurters little smokies or meatballs
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  • Whisk ingredients for the sauce together in a saucepan and simmer for 15-30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it is as thick as you like it.
  • To make the weenies, heat a tablespoon of butter in a skillet and add franks, smokies or meatballs. Stir and cook for a few minutes (this lets the franks plump up).
  • Add sauce and stir. Simmer, covered for another 15 minutes or so.
