Grandmother's Country Green Beans is a quick and simple way to dress up or doctor up some canned vegetables.

Ingredients
  

  • 29 ounces canned Italian green beans
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 tablespoon bacon grease
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Cook bacon and drain off grease except one tablespoon.
  • Set bacon aside and crumble.
  • Add butter to the grease and saute the onion with the garlic until soft.
  • Drain the can liquids into the skillet and stir with sugar, vinegar, salt and black pepper.
  • Add the green beans and bacon crumbles to the skillet and heat through.
