Ingredients
  

Galbi:

  • 1 pound boneless chuck short ribs or beef flanken ribs
  • 1 cup Asian pears diced, peeled, cored
  • 1/2 cup light soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Shaoxing rice wine
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon gochujang paste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup sugar or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Finishing:

  • Boston lettuce leaves optional
  • grilled scallions optional
  • Sriracha paste optional
  • Korean chili paste optional
  • Toasted sesame seeds optional garnish

Instructions
 

  • Place all ingredients (except beef) in a food processor and puree until smooth.
  • Use that as a marinade and marinate beef 6 hours or overnight.
  • Grill over hot coals for 10-12 minutes, turning once.
  • Serve grilled beef thinly sliced with lettuce leaves with gochujang or ssamjang paste.
  • 4 servings.
