Equipment

  • cookie sheet, silpat or parchment paper

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup soft unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup maple sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Coarse crystal sugars I used both white and multicolor

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  • Add egg, vanilla extract and maple syrup, continuing to mix in.
  • Gradually add the salt, baking soda and flour.
  • Scoop using a one tablespoon cookie scoop, then roll dough in hands into a ball.
  • Roll around in sprinkles then place on a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet.
  • Use a smooth glass to flatten cookies to about a quarter inch.
  • Bake ten minutes; allow cookies to cool on the pan.
