Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces bulk pork sausage
  • 2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon rubbed sage
  • 2 teaspoons dried chives
  • 1/2 cup shortening cubed
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 450F.
  • Brown and crumble pork sausage and cool.
  • Combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder, sage and chives.
  • Cut in cubes of shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  • Toss shredded cheese with the tablespoon of flour.
  • Add cheese and sausage to dough and knead in until blended.
  • Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface about half inch thick
  • Place biscuits on a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Bake 16-18 minutes or until golden.
