Equipment

  • 1 Oblong casserole dish (or lasagna pan)

Ingredients
  

Casserole Base:

  • 2 pounds chopped green cabbage
  • 1 large onion (sliced)
  • salt and black pepper
  • 10.5 ounces canned cream of onion condensed soup
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic

Crunchy Topping:

  • 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 ounces Ritz cracker (crushed into crumbs; 2 short sleeves)
  • 6 slices cooked bacon (crumbled)
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Toss together cabbage, onions, salt and black pepper and place in the bottom of a rectangular 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • Stir together the condensed soup and mayonnaise and spread over the cabbage as best as you can.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • In a small mixing bowl, toss together the cheese, cracker crumbs, bacon, and melted butter.
  • Remove foil cover from casserole and sprinkle on the topping.
  • Bake for another 30-40 minutes or until topping is golden and cabbage is tender.
