St. Louis Hot Salami Sandwich

Equipment

  • 1 slow cooker

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound beef salami unsliced
  • 2 cups beef broth or water
  • 4 hoagie rolls split
  • 4 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 4 ounces sliced provolone cheese
  • 4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sliced banana pepper rings
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise

Instructions
 

  • Peel any paper from salami if needed.
  • Place meat in slow cooker and top with broth.
  • Cook on low for three hours, turning occasionally.
  • Slice meat into 16 thick slices.
  • Brush bread with butter and garlic, then top each half of roll with mozzarella cheese.
  • Broil in toaster oven a few minutes to melt and lightly brown.
  • Fill sandwiches with four slices salami, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana pepper, and mayonnaise.
