Cookies:

soft unsalted butter

vegetable shortening

granulated sugar

large egg
1/4

molasses
1-1/2
teaspoons
vanilla extract

all-purpose flour

teaspoon
baking powder
1/2
teaspoon
baking soda
1/2
teaspoon
salt
2
teaspoons
ground cinnamon
1
teaspoon
ground ginger
1/4
teaspoon
ground cloves
Icing:
1/2
ounce
soft cream cheese
2
cups
sifted powdered sugar
1-2
tablespoons
milk
Other:
Cookies sprinkles
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F.
Cream butter, shortening and sugar until smooth.
Add egg, molasses and vanilla.
Mix in flour,baking powder, baking soda, salt, spices until smooth.
Chill batter 30 minutes.
Roll dough into balls from one tablespoon dough and place on parchment lined baking sheets 1-1/2 inches apart.
Bake 13 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges.
Let cool completely on pans.
Stir together icing ingredients and spread on cooled cookies.
Sprinkle with jimmies.
Allow cookies to dry completely, then store between wax paper sheets in an airtight container, refrigerated.
