Equipment

  • 1 Slow Cooker or Crock Pot

Ingredients
  

Main ingredients:

  • 6-7 pound boneless pork shoulder roast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 10 ounces apple juice

Schmear:

  • 1/3 cup whole grain Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seed
  • 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/2 teaspoon Hungarian paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Sprinkle roast with salt, pepper and garlic , then brown on all sides in oil.
  • Place meat in the slow cooker fat side up.
  • Add the onions to the oil in the pan and brown those as well.
  • Mix together the schmear and spread on top of meat.
  • Cover with onions.
  • Pour apple juice around the meat.
  • Cover and cook on low for nine hours.
