Instant Pot Ham Stock is my recipe of the day with the blogging group From Our Dinner Table. We group together weekly  to share recipes on a common topic. This week we are sharing recipes for Easter Dinner.

Mine will be slightly different in that it deals with the aftermath of dinner.

In this case, many  of  you will be staring at, wondering what to do with. The flavorful ham bone.

The instant pot makes quick work of  extracting the good flavor from the  bone. And an hour later you have two nice quarts of ham stock. Which you can  use right away. Or freeze for use further down the road.

You know, if  you don’t want the pressure of  simmering the bone with beans that day. And just want to save cooking bean soup for later.

Equipment

  • 1 Electric Pressure Cooker (Instant Pot)

Ingredients

  • 2 quarts water
  • salt to taste
  • 2 ribs celery chopped coarsely
  • 2 carrots chopped coarsely
  • 1/2 large onion unpeeled, coarsely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2-3 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 trimmed ham bone

Instructions

  • Cook all ingredients at pressure/high and sealed, for 60 minutes.
  • Use the quick release.
  • Strain when cool.

Not suitable for water bath canning. Refrigerate, freeze or pressure can according to USDA recommendations.
