Palatable Pastime’s Best Main Dish Recipes of 2018

By Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime

The year-end recipe countdown continues! And for today the sharing is for the most popular main dish recipes of 2018.

I think this is is my favorite category this week, as much as I love desserts. I make main  dish recipes more often, because I don’t make a new dessert every meal.

Pressure Cooker Tavern Sandwiches (Iowa Loosemeat)

This recipe is a natural outgrowth of my original tavern sandwich recipe, which I posted before I ever owned a pressure cooker.

Having tried these sandwiches at an Ohio-local Maid-Rite restaurant, I came to realize how tender the beef needs to be. Of course, after getting a pressure cooker, that really did make things easy. Now you can make these very quickly. Makes a perfect weekday meal.

Baked Chicken Alfredo Casserole

Of  course, a baked chicken alfredo casserole is a perfect comfort food dish, so I understand why you guys love it.  Plus, it’s Italian, so who can resist?

Cranberry Chipotle Glazed Baked Salmon

This is another simple way to create amazing flavor on baked salmon, which is a mainstay in my kitchen. I  love popping  out to buy some fresh fish, and bringing it home and getting dinner together without too much thought. So this is my perfect post-grocery-shopping dinner recipe.

Kotlet Kubideh Burgers

This is a burger I made for Burger Week, which is a fusion version of the Persian kotlet kubideh and the American burger. Who says you can’t have kebab on a bun? I do love the smoky flavor imparted by grilling, but you can also cook these indoors.

Baked Stuffed Pork Chops

This is a throwback recipe for me, being very retro. I love stuffing in anything, and pork chops are no exception. I made mine with low carb bread cubes and skipped pork gravy in favor of a balsamic drizzle (I was cutting carbs) but you can make it either way. If you need help  figuring out the gravy, use the contact form and pop me a question.

Carolina Gold Barbecue Buttermilk Brined Chicken Drumsticks

This is a mustard based sauce for grilled chicken legs,  one of my favorite kinds of bbq. I hate to say I am cheap,  but the drummies are a fab price, and grilling chicken on the bones will always get you moist and tasty results.

  1. I have always wanted to try a loose meat sandwich after seeing them on Roseanne – and I still have yet to make your chicken alfredo casserole – must put it on my January meal plan.
