Warm Golden Ginger Drink is my recipe of the day. I am posting with the blogging group From Our Dinner Table. We group weekly to post new recipes on a variety of common topics. This week’s theme is Drinks to Warm You Up.

This a version of a golden ginger drink I hade made before. Except that one was iced. It was also a version of a Starbucks  drink that took off the menu at some point. I missed it and wanted to do a winter version.

Also, in the chilled drink, I used ground spices. I used fresh ones in this and I think I prefer it overall. So you can still make this one and ice it up. No biggie.

Warm Golden Ginger Drink

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons grated turmeric root
  • 3 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup canned coconut juice or coconut water
  • 6 ounces canned pineapple juice
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup half and half

Instructions

  • Bring turmeric, ginger and water to a full boil.
  • Remove from heat, cover and steep fifteen minutes.
  • Strain mixture with a sieve.
  • Stir in coconut water, pineapple juice, sugar and half & half.
  • Serve hot.
  • Extras can be refrigerated. Stir gently to remix. Do not store in plastic containers that can stain.
