Double Chocolate Chip Bread  is my recipe of the day with the blogging group Bread Bakers. We post recipes monthly on a unified topic. This month we are sharing recipes for chocolate breads. Glad you could join us!

For my bread, I chose to make a chocolate batter quick bread load that also included semi-sweet chocolate chips.

It has lots of nice flavors and is perfect for a Valentine’s Day breakfast along with your favorite latte or cold glass of milk.  This also makes a great pack-in fr a brown bag lunch or snack to have during a coffee break at work.

Equipment

  • 1 glass loaf baking pan

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter melted and cooled
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips divided

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Spray a glass 9x5x3" loaf pan with baking release spray.
  • Stir together dry ingredients.
  • Separately, stir together wet ingredients and combine.
  • Pour evenly into loaf pan.
  • Bake for 55-60 minutes until a toothpick tests the bread done.
  • Cool in pan ten minutes, then turn out and finish cooling on a wire rack.
