Menu Planner (and printable shopping list)

Menu Planner- things I am thinking of  making very soon- or must make, in the terms of “use it or lose it”.

Menu Planner (and printable shopping list)

(will be updated frequently!)

My weekly menu  planner  continues. I am hoping to have this updated each Saturday.

Now  that Easter is  behind us and Spring  is in full motion, my mind turns  towards  an increase in salads and barbecue.

One of the  things I like to do is have a chilled deli type  salad in the fridge at all times. Then at dinner I will  add in tossed salads of various types. I like making my own vinaigrettes and dressings.  And have more than a few recipes for those posted on the blog.

Not that I won’t  use a bottled dressing-  I am as lazy as anyone and will have one on standby  in case I don’t feel like  whipping one up from scratch.

BBQ and grilling I will watch the sale flyers to see what  meats I can get. I did the pinchitos yesterday (posting today with Eat  the World) and unfortunately,  no one had a sale on boneless chicken thighs and I didn’t  have those in the freezer.

I have been using the Flipp app  to watch the grocery sales. You  can add all the local markets and then circle with a touch everything interesting. Those all go to one market list  so you can see which stores have what. In case you like to cherry-pick the sales as I do.

I’ll list out the sale items I am watching. Chances are, something similar is  on sale in  your area. And then list possible things I might make with those. Of course,  what the food looks like when I get there plays into it a lot. I am very snitty about the food and don’t like nasty looking  fish or produce  past its prime. Besides these stores, there is also Findlay market and a few farm markets, and there is no telling what they will have.

Aldi:

  • Lemons
  • Frozen Pork  Schnitzel Patties

Pork Weiner Schnitzel

Viennese Schnitzel Wiener Art

Although  it is just as likely I make a pork tenderloin  sandwich of sorts, on a burger bun, with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Maybe with some frozen krinkle cut fries.

Fresh  Strawberry Lemonade

Lemons are just as likely to be used in lemonade with warm weather. I  also put them in my iced tea. And I did notice there are strawberries on sale.

Jungle Jim’s:

  • Salmon fillets
  • New York strip steaks
  • fresh broccoli

Broccoli and Cauliflower Salad

I am already craving the brox salad-  and have the broccoli for it already. I’ll probably do full on broccoli  instead of adding in the cauliflower.

Island Teriyaki Chicken Packets

The  salmon  interests me, and I would probably do it grilled with some teriyaki sauce similar to this one  I have with the chicken packets.  That would probably be served with grilled zucchini and spring  onion or asparagus.

Kroger:

  • Asparagus
  • Yellow squash
  • Zucchini
  • Milk
  • Strip steaks
  • raspberries
  • free range eggs
  • shrimp

Hibachi Shrimp with YumYum  Sauce

The shrimp is also a possibility, and with a few  extra eggs, the fried rice would be a likely side dish. Asparagus and zucchini on the  grill would also again be in play, so I think I will  be buying both of those  veggies.

Meijer:

  • Strawberries
  • hot dogs
  • Johnsonville brats
  • whole pork shoulder

Crock Pot Pulled Pork

BBQ calls my name, and a pork  shoulder has equal  chance of hitting the slow cooker as it does the smoker, depending on the weather. In Spring, the weather changes in a dime.

Shur-Fine:

  • Pork  steaks
  • chicken thighs and drums

St. Louis BBQ Pork Steaks

The other options for  bbq are either pork steaks or bbq chicken. I won’t  do all the bbq, but something. Chicken is also good. We love it q’ed on the bone.

Breakfast and Lunches

Breakfast will likely be BLT’s, omelets or fried eggs, overnight oats, yogurts, etc.

Lunch  for the most part is leftovers, although I will be making some soup this week for Soup Swappers, which is upcoming.

Let Me Know

You know, if there is something you want me to post soon (if it’s something you are really interested in)  let me  know in the comments box and I’ll try to get it posted fast. I have hundreds of recipes not  yet posted, so sometimes what goes up on  any given day can be  arbitrary. So let your voice be heard!

On the Radar:

  • Fried Cubanelle Peppers, Italian Style
  • Smoked Corned Beef Brisket

  1. My favorite cookie to make (and eat!) is Snickerdoodle. Now I need to try the Eggnog Snickerdoodle recipe that linked on this post!
