Usually all the recipes you find on my blog are mine (except a few here and there). This is one of those times I am trying a cookbook recipe. And for obvious reasons.

In Anthony Bourdain’s cookbook Appetites, he shared a recipe for his favorite tuna sandwich. Now, most food snobs will go about denying partaking in tuna, for whatever reason. I don’t care.

I do  love tuna myself and have it every now and again. And I love that Bourdain had the brass to announce that he loved it too. And he loved it the way he was raised on it. Simple. And crappy white bread. He did love using Spanish tuna packed in oil, which can be pricy. It has good flavor, whichever Spanish tuna in oil you manage to find.

Anthony Bourdain’s Tuna Salad Sandwiches

Most people have their own way of doing their tuna, as do I. His is simple and straightforward. I am also fond of relish and sometimes egg. I do enjoy his addition of lettuce. It adds a nice crunch. I am very happy he didn’t add tomato. I am not a fan of tomato with tuna although I know many people are. If there is tomato with tuna, for me it needs to be stuffed. As I have in a recipe further down the page.
