You wouldn’t know it from the temperatures around here lately, but Autumn is officially here. Although I do understand some parts of the country have very fall-like weather. (Lucky them!)

There are signs, though. I saw early fall color starting to show up several weeks ago. As for myself, I’ve been thinking about foods and dishes I normally associate with Autumn for the last month. One thing I think of this time of year is fresh, local cider.

There was a farmer’s market we used to visit this time of year that had the best fresh-pressed apple cider. They also had delicious caramel apples. We often left with some of both.

So when the theme of slow cooker recipes was chosen, I decided upon a hot cider. Something that evokes the season, and those flavors of apple and caramel.

Ok, now THIS feels like fall! I have to admit, I had a few tears in my eyes when I read your recipe. All of my grandparents thought apple cider was delicious. I can see them enjoying a cup in heaven!
