Grilled Apple Butter Breakfast Sandwich is my recipe of the day with the blogging group From Our Dinner Table. We group weekly to post new recipes on a variety of common topics.  This week we are sharing recipes for breakfast sandwiches.

For my selection, I decided on a breakfast sandwich on cinnamon raisin bread with ham, gouda cheese, crisp apple slices, and a schmear of apple butter. It exceeded my expectations. I mean, I knew ham and cheese were excellent together. As well as apple and gouda pairing nicely. Of course the cinnamon raisin bread fit right in.

It was so good I could eat these all day every day. And it’s a nice change of pace from a boring egg sandwich, ya’ know?

You could even serve this cold, without grilling, but I like the toasty crispness of the bread when it is warm. Almost like a grilled cheese. Kids will definitely love these. And aren’t we all kids at heart?

Ingredients

  • 2 slices cinnamon raisin bread one ounce each slice
  • 2 teaspoons soft butter
  • 2 tablespoons apple butter
  • 1 ounce ham
  • 1-1/2 ounces gouda cheese sliced
  • 1/4 medium apple thinly sliced

Instructions

  • Spread butter on outsides of raisin bread.
  • Spread apple butter on insides of bread slices.
  • Fill with ham, two slices gouda cheese and apple slices.
  • Griddle over med-low heat until browned and crisp.
