Bacon Wrapped Beef Sirloin Tip Roast is my recipe of the day with the blogging group Sunday Funday. We post weekly on varying topics. This week we’re featuring holiday main courses for small gatherings. Glad you could join us!
I decided on a sirloin tip roast for this week’s offering. It hasn’t gone without me noticing just how pricey that beef has become. Steak used to be $4 a pound and then became $8 a pound then jumped to $10 a pound and now all up to $20 a pound and they’re still going up and up and up.
Fortunately I’ve been getting some things off the Flash Foods app and the store nearest me on the app has been offering beef every day at 8:00 a.m. Gads and gads of beef roast and steaks and big ones too not like the little things they’ve been selling in the store for a while.
I do love good beef roast whether it’s sliced thin or will be shredded I don’t care. But you know the roast that they’ve been selling in recent times are very, very small. Their steaks have been about the same size as the chuck roast and it doesn’t seem to be much appreciable difference in the size. And really for a good size family meal you probably need at least a three to four pound roast.
I can get by on a little 2 lb roast here just cuz it’s for you know a couple of people. And I know around the holidays if you don’t have a big crowd it can be challenging to find something suitable to make. I mean most people don’t want to eat hamburgers or fried chicken although those are delicious.
Downsizing at Holiday Meals
At this point in my life my family’s become very small rather than expanding like many people’s families. We had a small family to begin with and my daughter’s still living single, no kids. Last thing I want to be is one of those kind of moms that nags on and on about having grandkids like a baby hungry granny.ย ย I remember my own mother doing that to me and I really didn’t appreciate it.
So many times it’s just down to three people for Holiday meal around here and that’s really small. Considering where I used to work I used to make meals for up to 500 people it’s really quite a stunning difference. But I enjoy making smaller meals especially since my daughter is not as terrifically fond of roasted turkey. She likes the sides as we all do, you know, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, the works. But surely we can’t be the only ones that think a 20-poundย turkey is just absolutely boring. Not to mention the leftovers you’ll be stuck with for days.
Inspect the offerings below I think most of the meats are represented except for perhaps seafood but if you want some seafood recipes you can go over into the categories on the right and dig them up. I cook a lot of fish and I’m not one to turn down shrimp or lobster crab or anything like that.
So enjoy and have a lovely Thanksgiving with your family and drive safely and all that. Now let’s get cooking!

That looks delicious, Sue. I would love to be part of your small gathering.
You made a small roast very special, Sue! My husband and I would love it with that mustardy crust and bacon wrap. And you’ve cooked it absolutely perfectly!
You had me at horseradish. I love a sirloin tip roast and have used the bacon wrap method in the past, but had never thought about using horseradish. I may just have to up my game and make one for myself soon. I can always freeze the leftovers and have them at a second meal or three.
