Countdown to 2020: Best Breakfast and Brunch Recipes
By Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime
This is day two of the countdown to 2020 and today I am sharing recipes for breakfast and brunch.
There are two types I am sharing- popular recipes overall (since I began this blog) as well as popular ones from this year.
There is a pretty good selection- you can tell that overall people seem to like my recipes that include fried eggs. It’s probably because when I was very young, I worked a short order cook station at one of my jobs and did the fried eggs on a flat iron for the brunch service. I became rather adept at cooking about 36 eggs at one time, which really requires a sleight of hand to be able to drop the eggs on there and start turning them before they overcook.
Flat iron is probably not my favorite way to cook eggs, although you can get some beautiful sunnies that way (sunny side up).
Personally I probably prefer both poached eggs as well as soft-boiled eggs, as I like a soft but perfectly set white (no crispy edges) and the nice runny yolk.
The first eggs I learned how to make were basted in bacon grease for my daddy’s breakfast. He liked his fried eggs and bacon and lived to a nice old age.
My husband is crazy about huevos (which I shared below) and also my biscuits and gravy which people say I am famous for. I don’t know about all that fame, but it’s not bad. Gravy being better than my biscuits overall, but I will admit that I excel at sauces from scratch.
My baking does get better over time, but relatively, so does everything else. Practice makes perfect in the kitchen they say- and it’s true.
May your cooking and baking year be the best ever and raise your skills to new heights.
Some of my blogging friends are also sharing their top recipes, so it pays to take a peek. I know I will. If I don’t find time to try all the recipes that catch my eye, it is incentive to have help sifting out the cream of the crop.
