The Hanky Pankies are a local Cincinnati favorite of beef and pork mixed with cheese on small party appetizer breads. The origin supposedly comes from the West Side of Cincinnati in years past.

They do  include processed cheese, which is not  for everyone, so the Velveeta haters should go  ahead and try a different cheese or just pass this one by.

In the  local area, this one is a favorite  of  the  Cincinnati Bengals footballs fans, who  eat this at tailgates and watch  parties religiously. It is also a favorite at other gatherings and  parties,  with New Year’s Eve being no exception.

Hanky Panky

The  name might be a bit obscure,  but I think  it might have something  to do with being like “Sex on a Shingle” (with  some  foods being  called Sex…whatever,  like better than Sex Cake) but it  also has connections  with S.O.S. (chipped beef) as well.

The taste is  very  homey and  comfort food. And although the traditional way is to make this with  hot pork  sausage (hot sex?) I’d say if you have someone that doesn’t like  spicy,  stick to regular sausage. You  could always tuck a few jalapeno  slices into a couple for  those who want things heated  up.
