I  am offering my recipe for easy pigs in blankets. Usually these are made with a softer dough such as a biscuit or croissant.

I settled on using a box of frozen garlic breadsticks. Those are thawed or heated until soft. Then a hole is punched with a chopstick or wooden spoon handle. (You can also use an apple corer tool.) Make sure the handle is not so large it splits the breadstick.

Then gently insert the hot dog or smokie piece and brush with garlic butter. There will already be some on the breadsticks but you will want a little more.

Then bake up for 10-12 minutes or until hot. The result is a more garlic bread experience with the appie than squishy crescent roll ones. I mean both are good but now you can take your pick.

Serve with mustard- I like whole grain mustard or honey mustard.

Enjoy Week One of the NFL season! We are Joey Burrow fans here in Cincinnati with our Bengals.
