Submarine Bites with Sub Sauce
By Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime
Submarine Bites with Sub Sauce is my recipe of the day with the blogging group Sunday Funday. As usual, we post on Sundays on various topics that a host asks us to make. And the hosting job changes from week to week.
This week Wendy Klik of A Day in the Life on the Farm suggested we make sandwiches, which is always a supreme idea.
I love the look of a super long hoagie…submarine….grinder…or whatever you like to call it. But usually the long ones are too much food. So I opted to do them up on breadsticks.
The idea of breadsticks makes perfect sense to me. Since once you cut them up they are a perfect bite sized appetizer. I know I will be making these often during football season when we enjoy many sandwiches.
Using frozen heat and serve breadsticks also helps control the portion of a recipe to a smaller size. Whether you are holing up for covid or just want something small for a couple of people.
The sub sauce is fantastic and is like what you buy in bottles at the deli. Whip up a batch and it will keep for several weeks refrigerated, if needed.
