Speculaas Spice Mix, for use in making spice or Windmill cookies.
Speculaas Spice Mix
Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime
This is a clone I have made of a spice mix from Holland that I bought last year to make speculaas cookies.
It is perfect for both making cookies and using in cookie butter recipes. Don’t use the orange peel if you want the cookie butter cream cheese (click for recipe) to taste like Trader Joe’s. There is no orange in their blend. I do recommend it for the cookies, and you can also use it in the cookie butter cream cheese, but that will taste a little different from the Trader Joe’s version obviously. Not bad, but just different. I like it both ways.
I only list a small batch because people don’t need too much of this that often, and it is easily compiled from spices in your cabinet. If you need more, just multiply up. Just be aware that nutmeg tastes best freshly grated, so it is not a good blend to keep in a container for long periods of time.
Enjoy-
~Sue
