How Do You Grill French Fries?
It is an easy enough operation to do fries on the grill. We can achieve this using frozen French fries, which are partially cooked before freezing, and usually bake in an oven.
Grilling them on a mesh rack with the lid closed creates an oven-like environment that is also filled with smoke. This adds the most wonderful flavor!
Are Grilled French fries crispy?
You might be amazed at the difference using frozen fries makes. Instead of having something similar to a roasted potato wedge, the krinkle cut fries get as crispy as if you made them in your kitchen oven. And they have little charred edges which are just wonderful.
Are Grilled French fries more healthy?
Grilled French fries are obviously lower in fat than deep fried potatoes. They do compare to doing frozen fries in either the oven or air fryer.
Do You Need a Grill Basket for Grilled French Fries?
It is probably a good idea to use either a grill basket or mesh grate to cook your potatoes on. The fries will be turned frequently to prevent burning. And as they turn, you don’t really want those falling through your regular grate.
What to Serve with Grilled French Fries?
Grilled French fries are the perfect accompaniment to backyard burgers, steaks and many kinds of barbecue or sandwiches.
Do My Potatoes Need to Be Frozen?
You can start them rock solid frozen on the grill, just as with cooking frozen fries indoors. As well, you can pack a bag of frozen fries to take with you to a remote or park cookout or even camping. Just keep those chilled in the cooler. They will grill up thawed in almost the same amount of time as the frozen ones. Give or take a minute or two.
