My choice was to do some wings in Bourbon Sauce. Since I haven’t posted in awhile. I think the last time was with a sugar-free sauce. It didn’t include actual bourbon either. Although this one does. Just a little bit- why not?
We love wings too and I wanted to do them in my air-fryer, since it works so well. I also split the batch, doing half in my air-fryer and the other half in my Breville air-fryer. I did end up getting the extra air fryer so I could compare the cook times. And as well, it is great if I want to do something like fries with my meal.
I coat the wings with cornstarch which really helps with the crisp texture. The sauce amount I would describe as “extra” (I could manage with half and store the rest in the fridge) but you could double batch and use it up. Or just whisk up half a recipe of sauce.
I like it sauce though, especially if I have something like rice or fried rice to go with. A little extra sauce for rice is always a plus.

Bourbon Chicken Wings

Bourbon Chicken Wings
Equipment
- 1 Air Fryer
Ingredients
Wings:
- 2-1/2 pounds chicken wing sections
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Bourbon Sauce (yield 1-1/4 cups):
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2-1/2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
- 4 teaspoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger root
- 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon bourbon whisky
Instructions
- Prepare bourbon sauce by whisking together ingredients in a small saucepan until it comes to a boil.
- Cook sauce about one minute or until thickened. Set aside until needed.
- Pat wings dry and season with salt and pepper.
- Toss wings with cornstarch evenly then drizzle with oil and toss again.
- Place wings on the rack of a preheated air fryer and cook at 400-450 (depending on your model) for about 25-30 minutes, or until browned and crisp, turning 2-3 times during the cooking process.
- Toss wings with sauce and serve hot. The full amount results in nicely saucy wings, but you can probably adequately coat two orders of wings if used more sparingly.

Sue, I only have the breyville. How did that compare to the other air fryer? I have been curious about it.
On the Cosori air fryer, the temp only goes up to 400F while the Breville goes to 450F. The cooking result was the same except for a couple minutes apart. Obviously you can do more food at one time in the Breville. It is still good to have the secondary, in case you want to do air fries or something while you do something else in the Breville. The Cosori pops away for storage, very lightweight and easy to store.
My husband loves chicken wings and love to try different flavours. I am loving reading all the ingredients that are going into making that Bourbon Sauce and that using that to flavour. Delicious recipe
