Saucy Taco Chicken Wings can be air-fried or pan-fried with equally delicious results tossed in a mildly spicy Tex-Mex style wing sauce.
Saucy Taco Chicken Wings
By Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime
Saucy Taco Chicken Wings are my recipe of the day with my blogging group Multicooker Monday. We gather once per month to post recipes using our favorite small kitchen appliances, such as air fryers, instant pots, slow cookers and more.
In this recipe, I will show you how to make them fried in the skillet as well as air-fried using the Breville Smart Air oven (convection air fryer). I don’t care which way I have them. How I do the prep depends mostly on where I have cookspace available. Ever have that issue? (imagine Thanksgiving….)
These wings taste great either way they are made. And you can tell I adore them or I wouldn’t come back for them.
I am reminded of the movie “Memoirs of a Geisha” (one of my favs) where Sayuri is taken to a sumo wrestling match and after impressing her escort is told she may come again. And as a food blogger, I have to be particularly hard on which things I come back to. There is just so much to cook and so little time!
My Cooking Obsession
Or just that I can’t eat so much. If I could have a crowd every day, I would readily cook a lot more. I think I missed my lot as being a grandmother of a huge family. Others my age count themselves as G-GMas but I have not made it that far.
However, I do have that sense of cooking that my country grandmothers had and I long to be in that heavenly kitchen with them, cooking side by side. I remember the big Sunday dinners when I was very young. It was a real southern spread.
Not that they ever did anything in an air fryer, much less spicy chicken wings. These are foods for a new era. Even if wings have been a thing for quite some time now.

Cooking in the air-fryer or on the stove gets about the same results. You will notice there is baking powder in the air-fried seasoning as it helps the wings to crisp. Just mix it with the taco seasoning and toss to coat.
The cook times are very similar- so one doesn’t save you minutes on a busy night, but certainly the air-fried are lower in fat.

Wings are my absolutely favorite part of the chicken. There are no bad wings but yours look particularly delicious, Sue! My tummy’s rumbling for them.
Love my Breyville. Your wings sound amazing.
I am SUCH a wing fan – but it’s not something I really ever make at home – I need to get more comfortable with these! Yours sound delicious – and between you and Wendy I’m going to be researching that air fryer later…!
Two recipes in one!!! I need a taste test!
All of my children are huge chicken wing fans, I need to surprise them with this next time they come over!
