Cozy Winter recipes to keep your tummy and toes warm this January.

Cozy Recipes for Winter

Smoke over White Mug

The cooking year has at last come to an end. Obviously fast. But as my mother always said: “Watch out girl, because the years fly by ever faster…”

As 2018 comes to close

And we ponder the years recipes in sweet repose

Holiday tummies satisfied and  full

With the aromas and dreams of sugarplums drift free from our nose

Look forward my friends with palatable  delight

As we bid our cooking year a sweet goodnight.

So many recipes,  so little time!

There are so many things I wanted to cook, but never got around to. Pierogies..Asian dumplings…now that seems  to be a theme. I didn’t get to use my smoker as much as I would have liked. And my sous vide sat mostly idle.

But I did make a few more pressure cooker recipes than I had before. And my cakes seem to take on a life of their own–the cheesecake especially was superb (I have not posted them all). I wanted to make some of my own kombucha, but never got to it.

And now as I begin a new year, my culinary eyes “bigger than my stomach” (another Mom-ism) it is time to take stock and try to think of what things I’d like to do more of in the coming year, and also perhaps what I would like to do less of.

Cookbooks surround me at every turn in my home- they are the greatest inspiration for me, as well as things I see online. I really don’t get to browse pinterest as much as I would like, as well as some of the photo aggregators like Foodgawker,  but when I do,  photos abound to give me ideas.

As well as restaurant menus,  where I see things I would like to make myself.

The  Last Few Months Have Been So Busy!

Q4 for me on the blog has been pretty busy bouncing from one recipe to another, so I feel like I haven’t had even much time to think. I know I have some cooking mags that have still gone unread. I love leafing through those. But what to cook in the upcoming days, weeks,  and months?

I often seem to cook a lot of a particular cuisine before I get bored of it. I do feel the urge to cook more Asian soon,  including some Indian and Chinese, as well as Singapore and Malaysian cooking. Plus I want to do some British Baking. But that happens after any show I watch from the Great British  Bake-Off. Plus  I have some cookbooks I picked up by both Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. I really wasn’t as familiar with his work,  but he has some amazing looking stuff.

I guess we’ll see what gets made soon enough,   but I will probably change my mind three times first.

As always, if there is something you want me to post, drop me a line- it may be something I already have made but not posted yet, although your comments do give me inspiration. And I hope 2019 turns out to be the best cooking year ever—for each and every one of us. There is always room to learn and grow in the kitchen!
