Honey Roasted Figs sweetly caramelize in the oven to become the perfect topping for soft goat cheese and crackers.
Honey Roasted Figs
By Sue Lau | Palatable Pastime
Honey Roasted Figs are my recipe of the day with the blogging group Foodie Extravaganza. We join up at the beginning of the month to post about food holidays and events. This month it is National Honey Month.
For my post, I decided to prepare some simple roasted figs topped with honey and a couple of other ingredients that I could pile on to some rainforest crackers with a schmear of soft goat cheese.
A Perfect Flavor Balance
The flavors all balance together between the softness of the roasted fruit and chevre and the crunchiness of the crackers and fig seeds and the sweetness of the honey contrasted against the tangy saltiness of the cheese.
I love piling things on crackers with goat cheese as you have seen me do before (and will again, no doubt). If you need a good cracker from scratch, try my recipe for Gourmet Fruit and Nut Crisps.
They are quite similar to the rainforest crackers you can buy.
This month, the Foodie Extravaganza celebration is all about honey, hosted by Making Miracles. We celebrate various food holidays. This month, we are celebrating honey because September is National Honey Month!.

These look like such an amazing and special appetizer to set out – or keep to yourself!
Figs and goat cheese are one of my favorite combos, Sue. Yours look fabulous! I don’t know what’s wrong with my local grocery stores but I haven’t seen a single Texas or Louisiana fig this year, only black mission figs from California. They are lovely but not the same!
Hopefully you can snag some.
