Monday I shared my recipe for Southern Collard Greens made in the Instant Pot. It is traditional for many families in the South to serve greens as part of their holiday meal. It is definitely a healthy choice.
Red Cabbage is less well know in the south except for perhaps certain parts of Texas. Foods with German origins are mostly reserved for the Midwest in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania.
In these places, red cabbage is perfectly suited to go with the holiday ham. Or perhaps a crown roast of pork, or perhaps even a pan of various types of sausages.
I love red cabbage but I also love pork so they do go together for me. This might even go well as a little garnish of sorts on top of something like schnitzel, fried green tomatoes or even on top of soup beans. You know me- I get creative with it.

Braised cabbage is a favorite of mine. I never thought to add cranberries and juniper. I bet it makes the cabbage taste even more delicious.
