Cheddar and Chive Blossom Scones #BreadBakers

Cheddar and Chive Blossom Scones are made using fresh  chive blossoms and white cheddar cheese for tons of mild green onion flavor that reminds of Cotswold cheese.

Cheddar and Chive Blossom Scones is my recipe of the day with Bread Bakers. We get together once per month to post on topics concerning bread. It was my turn to host so I had opted for yeasted breads and scones. However, considering the issues getting some things like yeast with members, I relaxed the requirement to any type.

This also opened the opportunity to share my chive blossom scones with you while the chives are growing with force.

I had meant to do this recipe last year but unfortunately, as the event grew near,  my chives hadn’t flowered yet except for 3-4 little blossoms, which would never do.

Chive Blossoms

Chive blossoms are nice and purple and very good to cook and bake with,  or use in salads. When you pick them, be sure to rinse them thoroughly, then make sure they are completely dry so you don’t create an imbalance in your dough. The concern of moisture is only  for baking since a salad won’t care.

I also added a few extra of the chives in there for color, as well  as a bit of turmeric which makes them golden. It’s the cheese which has the deeper color.

These are enormously delicious and I just know you will love them. Try one for breakfast split with  a bit of ham and honey tucked inside for a breakfast sandwich on the go!
