Jamaican Jerk Chicken Burgerย is my recipe of the dayย with the blogging group Eat the World. Weย post monthly withย recipes for different countries, changing eachย month.
This monthย we are off to the Caribbean and Jamaica.ย So if the darkeningย autumn skies get youย down, take a vacayย in yourย kitchen.
I decided onย doing a jerk chickenย burger with my homemade sauce and chicken patties. In the summer I might grill these outdoors but I opted for the grill pan on the stove top.
You can make these mild or spicy. My husband and I are a bit of chile heads so like it flaming hot with scotch bonnet. But I alsoย cooked forย my daughter, who doesย notย eat spicy,ย so left it out of the sauce.ย I took mine mild as well to see how it was, while Billย hosedย his with hot sauce.
The flavor was great with the pineappleย slices.ย I love those onย burgers. Itย might also beย interesting with sliced mango as well if you prefer. Probably not veryย authenticย but we like these with French Fries. You canย even use extra sauce to dip instead of ketchup.

Jamaican Jerk Chicken Burger
Equipment
- grill pan or outdoor grill
Ingredients
Jerk Sauce (1 cup):
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon light molasses
- 1 tablespoon pickapeppa sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon garlic
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- scotch bonnet pepper sauce (amount to taste; optional)
Burgers:
- 1 pound ground chicken
- salt and pepper
- sliced red onion
- leaf lettuce
- 3 toasted burger buns
- 3 slices pineapple
Instructions
- Mix together jerk sauce and set aside.
- Make three patties from the ground chicken.
- Season chicken with salt and black pepper.
- Grill patties on an oiled grill or grill pan until done, brushing with jerk sauce and allowing to set.
- Grill pineapple, brushing lightly with sauce.
- Assemble burgers adding extra sauce as desired as a condiment.
