Today’s recipe is for crispy fried halloumi cheese which I made from a package of cheese fries that I purchased at Aldi. I knew they would be easy to fry into cheese sticks since halloumi doesn’t easily melt in the frying pan.
So unlike trying to scramble getting mozzarella crisp before it melts everywhere, it’s super simple. And the flavor of the cheese is wonderful.
Besides the Aldi cheese (which was already cut) you could also buy a block of halloumi and cut it into sticks. Which I will do next time anyway. Considering some of the fries in the package had broken so not every piece was nice and long. I guess the airport gorilla who mishandles luggage got hold of the cheese as well. But still, one cannot argue with Aldi’s price.

They look perfect Sue. I seldom get a chance to go to Aldi’s. There is not one close and it is never on my radar. I need to change my way of thinking.
I have never had halloumi prepared like this. Sounds delicious!
The airport gorilla! 🤣 🤣🤣 I love halloumi but usually just pan fry or grill it. This battered version looks and sounds divine, Sue!

I’m definitely going to have to hit the local Aldi, although I’m afraid I’ll come out with way more than I intended =) I love fried cheese and definitely need to try it with haloumi.
Ooooh, it’s a little bit of a trek to get to an Aldi but I’m putting it on my to do list! Nothing beats ooey gooey fried cheese!
I just bought some of the cheese from Aldi’s and wasn’t sure what to do with it yet but now I know! I may try them in the air fryer as it’s less mess.
