Baked Garlic Cheese Grits
Ingredients
- 1 cup quick cooking grits
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 ounces Cheddar cheese
- 4 ounces American cheese
- 2 eggs (lightly beaten)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup Extra shredded cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Place the grits, chicken broth, garlic, salt and pepper in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Cook, stirring, over moderate heat until mixture thickens.
- Take off the heat and stir in chopped or shredded cheeses with the butter until it all melts and incorporates.
- Whisk together the eggs and milk, then quickly whisk that into the grits.
- Pour mixture into a buttered baking dish (square or rectangular) that holds about 6-8 cups.
- Top with more shredded cheese if you like, but it doesn’t need it.
- Bake at 350F for 40-50 minutes or until a knife comes out clean and it is set.
